Welcome to our Blog!

Youth Landscapers is a group of local young people from Donisthorpe and Moira researching and mapping The Heart of the National Forest with the Black to Green project.

Over the summer we’ll be gathering information about the natural, industrial and social history of the people and places of this area, and we’ll be sharing all our findings and images with you here.

We’ll also be bringing everything together into a creative exhibition at Moira Furnace Museum on the 13th – 27th August.

SHARE YOUR STORIES WITH US!

We want to collect thoughts and memories about the area for our project, including stories about ‘Pit Talk’ – the slang used by the mining community  – for a film we’re making later in the year.

To get in touch please email us at: youthlandscapers@gmail.com

Also – on Saturday 21st May we’re having a stall at the Moira Canal Festival  – why not pop down for a chat? We’ll be there all day at Moira Furnace,  Furnace Lane, Moira, Swadlincote DE12 6AT.
